Bird Feeding Tips: Spring
In the spring migratory birds return and are on the look out for food, shelter, nesting sites, and water. Here are some easy ways to attract more birds:
  • Put out mealworms a great source of protein and way to attract birds that don't typically eat seed like orioles, warblers, phoebes and vireos.
  • Scrub out birdbaths with white vinegar or a mild solution of bleach and water. Water is very attractive to waxwings and robins!
  • Put out nesting material for birds. It can be put in a cleaned out suet feeder or on trays. Safe items include pet hair, cotton fibers and yarn that is no longer than six inches in length so the birds won't get tangled.

Bird Feeding Tips: Spring

As the nesting season approaches, signs of increased domesticity in the local and returning birdlife abound. The construction of nests, the laying and incubating of the eggs, and the hatching and growth of young are among the most remarkable events in nature. By following these simple tips, anyone can record wonderful images in a safe, conservation-minded manner.
