The past week was a very busy one for the Wingscapes team. We were demonstrating and discussing the new BirdCam and PlantCam models with the 14,000 plus attendees of the National Science Teachers Association’s national conference, held this year in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The enthusiastic reception of all three of the new Wingscapes cameras by the assembled teachers was even better than that for which we had hoped. From the opening to the closing of the exhibition hall each day, we were talking non-stop to teachers from across North America who were interested in learning more about the BirdCam 2.0, the Audubon BirdCam, and the PlantCam, and discussing ways they could incorporate them into their respective lessons (we were especially amazed at all the different creative ideas that were proposed for using the PlantCam). We were also very pleased to learn how many of the teachers in attendance already knew about about our cameras and what they have been doing with them in their classrooms.
As the teachers at the gathering were continually sharing new and effective teaching ideas with their colleagues, we invite any teacher who would like to share their experiences of using either the BirdCams or the PlantCam in their lessons by sending us a few words about what was done, how the students responded, and what was learned by all. As always, pictures are also most appreciated.
